Maarten specialises in EU and international trade law, focusing on anti-dumping, subsidies, safeguards and customs.
Maarten specialises in international trade law, general EU and WTO law, customs law and sanctions. He has worked in the area of anti-dumping, anti-subsidy and safeguards, having represented companies and governments in anti-dumping and countervailing duty proceedings started by the EU including landmark cases such as Solar Panels and Cells, Hot-Rolled Flat Products, Melamine and Low Carbon Ferro-Chrome.
Prior to joining VVGB, Maarten worked for two years as an associate with a Brussels-based consultancy, where he advised clients on EU trade law and policy, trade-related regulation, and sanctions policies. In addition, Maarten worked for six years as an international trade analyst in the Washington, D.C. and Brussels offices of an international law firm, where he advised clients on EU and US trade policy and trade-related regulation.
