Experience

Marie joined VVGB in 2022 as a trade lawyer. Since then, she has represented Chinese, EU, Turkish, Indonesian, and other international companies, as well as governments, in various trade defense proceedings, including landmark cases such as New Battery Electric Vehicles for Passengers from China.

Marie also assists VVGB in representing clients before EU courts and currently acts as co-counsel for both exporting producers and industry associations in multiple trade defense cases before the General Court. In the field of WTO dispute settlement, she is co-counsel for China in EU – Definitive CVDs on BEVs (China). Additionally, she advises international companies and government bodies on a wide range of legal and policy issues related to EU customs law, international commercial contracts, and EU regulatory matters.

Before joining VVGB, Marie completed her legal studies at Ghent University (LL.B., Master’s degree, with a focus on international economic law). She then obtained an LL.M. in European and International Business Law at the University of Vienna. During her LL.M., she was admitted to the partner program in intellectual property law at Stanford Law School.

While pursuing her studies, Marie interned with VVGB’s trade department.

She is fluent in Dutch, English, and French.

Marie is a member of the Brussels Bar.
